| Productive performance for silage production of five forage sorghum genotypes (BRS Ponta Negra, BRS 655, BR 601, BRS 506 and BRS 610) was evaluated through the yield of dry matter, digestible dry matter, and fresh matter, plant height, percentage of lodged and broken plants, and anatomical fractions in Brazilian semi-arid region. BRS 506 and BRS Ponta Negra varieties achieved the highest fresh forage yields (89.4 and 76.2 ton. ha-1), and BRS 506, stood out for dry and digestible dry matter yield (25.2 and 12.1 ton. ha-1, respectively). | O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a produtividade de massa seca e massa verde, altura de inserção da espiga, número de espigas por planta, altura das plantas e a relação espiga, colmo e folha de seis variedades de milho indicadas para a região semiárida brasileira (BR 5033 - Asa Branca, BR 5028 - São Francisco, BRS 4103, BRS Caatingueiro, BRS Assum Preto e Gurutuba), visando à produção de silagem. O experimento foi conduzido nas dependências da Embrapa Semiárido, adotando-se o delineamento experimental de blocos casualizados com seis tratamentos e quatro repetições. | Pornunça is a species of the genus Manihot that has been cultivated as an option for animal feeding in the Brazilian semi-arid. Leaf area (LA) is important to determine forage plant growth, whose evaluation model has to meet the following characteristics: practicality, precision and low cost. The objective of this study was to set a model to determine the leaf area in Pornunça (Manihot sp.) from morphometric measurements of the leaf. | The aim of this study was to evaluate the fermentative losses and nutritional value of elephant grass silages with the increasing of inclusion levels of dehydrated banana peel. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design, with six treatments and four replications, being the silage exclusively from elephant grass, and five levels of inclusion of banana peel to the elephant grass silage, as the following - 5; 10; 15; 20 and 25%, being added based on natural matter. | Sugar cane is highly productive (dry matter.hectare-1), but after ensiling process nutritional quality is affected, thus additives are needed to control or minimize losses. This study aimed to evaluate if Lactobacillus plantarum LPBR01 strain used as silage inoculant for sugar cane can control fermentation losses. | Objetivou-se avaliar a densidade de raiz e a profundidade efetiva do sistema radicular de seis gramíneas irrigadas sob efeito de diferentes adubações nitrogenadas e manejos. O experimento foi analisado em esquema de parcelas sub-subdivididas, tendo nas parcelas os manejos (pastejo e corte), nas subparpelas as gramíneas (Estrela, Marandu, Mombaça, Pioneiro, Tanzânia e Xaraés) e nas sub-subparcelas as doses nitrogenadas (100, 300, 500 e 700 kg ha-1 ano-1). | This study evaluated the influence of nitrogen levels (N) and plant density (D) on the tillering dynamics of Tanzania guinea grass (Panicum maximum Jacq.). Treatments were arranged in a completely randomized block design with 12 treatments and two replicates in a factorial scheme (4 × 3) with four levels of N (0, 80, 160 or 320 kg ha-1 N) and three plant densities (9, 25, and 49 plant m-²).
